In November 1248 a vast section of the limestone cliff of Mont Granier broke away and buried the villages below, and the field of shattered rock and gravel it left behind is exactly where Apremont's vines grow today. That rubble drains hard and fast, which is why Jacquere the local white grape, and the only one permitted for Apremont comes out of it so taut and stony.
