The story goes that a Greek couple immigrated to America in 1942, bringing 4 fig cuttings with them. Of the 4 cuttings, only one flourished in their North Carolina home. The home was purchased in 2000 by Denniss friend Irene, who showed her fig collecting friend this mother tree.
