1816 $3 Owl Creek Bank of Ohio - OH-310-G14 - PMG VF 20 2017 These are surprisingly nice setsThe Owl Creek Bank of Mount Vernon pretty well exemplifies the term, Wildcat Banking, despite having occurred before the term typically applies. Opened in 1816, by 1817 they had already been sued. While the bank was acquitted, part of that acquittal was the judgement that the notes didn't even constitute "money". One must imagine that while the owners were likely happy with the acquittal, any holders of the notes were less than thrilled.
